All these words left inside.

She never said to her Dad how much the little girl loved to stand in front of the ship and lift her eyes endlessly and suddenly be so proud of him.

She never said to this man that mentally she called him my little brother.

She never said to this beloved friend how much the shivering light in her eyes troubles her, a special mix of fragility and fantasy, a wonder.

She never told him how much she is moved by these two expressions on his face, when they meet in a public place. This vague worry in his searching eyes. And just after, the relief.

You hesitated one second about saying something, something important, a detail. And they you didn't. Maybe you didn't even think about saying the words, you just thought them. And nothing was said. 

She should. She should have. She should. She should.

You should have, or maybe you should.

Making a note of that.

Telling the unsaid.

It will be too late soon. It's probably never too early.

Elle n'a jamais dit à son père combien la petite fille aimait se tenir devant le paquebot et lever les yeux sans fin et soudain être tellement fière de lui.

Elle n'a jamais dit à cet homme que mentalement elle l'appelait mon petit frère.

Elle n'a jamais dit à cette amie rare combien la lumière tremblante dans ses yeux la trouble, un mélange spécial de fragilité et de fantaisie, une merveille.

Elle ne lui a jamais dit comme elle est émue de ces deux expressions sur son visage, quand ils se retrouvent dans un endroit public. Cette vague inquiétude dans ses yeux qui cherchent. Et juste après, le soulagement.

Vous avez hésité une seconde à dire quelque chose, quelque chose d'important, un détail. Et vous avez renoncé. Peut-être n'avez-vous même pas songé à prononcer les mots, vous les avez simplement pensés. Et rien n'a été dit. 

Elle devrait. Elle aurait dû. Elle devrait. Elle devrait.

Vous auriez dû, ou peut-être vous devriez.
